I went to Ann Arbor last weekend for the game and all the experience did is remind me how old I am getting. It was crazy and I am exhausted. As much fun as I had up there for the game, I can't wait to be a bum and just sit and watch games from the couch this weekend.
Although, it is not hard to get excited to be lazy about these weeks slate of games. Look at this schedule. Let us dive right into it...
Thursday- LSU at Mississippi St 8 pm EST- We start off the weekend right with this SEC duel. I am really disappointed the Bulldogs didn't pull of the big win last weekend at Auburn. I didn't get to watch any of the game so I am not sure what to expect from MSU. Of course, I know what I will get from LSU; good defense, Jarrett Lee and Les Miles doing their thing. LSU 24- 19
Auburn at Clemson Noon EST- You know it is a big day of games when this is a noon game. If Auburn pulls this off I think Chizik is the early leader for coach of the year. The big thing here is that the game is in Death Valley. I have no idea why I am going to pick Clemson against the SEC, it makes no sense. Clemson 28-20
West Virginia at Maryland Noon EST- I was going to put Pitt/Iowa here but the Hawkeyes lost last week so I will focus on this local rivalry. Maryland will wear some crazy jerseys but I will flip over from the Michigan game in order to check out Holgerson and his offense. I still think WVU is the favorite in the Big East despite the early success of USF and Pitt. Plus I still like to sing John Denver even though Rich Rod is gone. WVU 32-21
Michigan St at Notre Dame 330 EST- Hey Notre Dame, how are things? O that is right. The Irish are 4.5 point favorites and they are a legit team on paper. But games, as Lee Flowers has pointed out, are not won on paper. MSU 30-27.
Texas at UCLA 330 EST-Last time we saw Texas in the Rose Bowl Gilbert had replaced a McCoy and now it is the other way around. Nothing like keeping the tradition of McCoy to Shipley. Texas 20-16
Tennessee at Florida 330 EST- This theme song is back and I love it. Neither of these teams has much hype but I think we might see the Tyler Bray coming out party. I saw him last year live and he had a legit arm. If he can win in the swamp then he is legit. I am just way to soft to pick the Vols. Gators 26-17
Arizona St at Illinois 7 EST- This is the under the radar game of the week. Illinois can gear up for a nice run in the Big Ten if they can win this game. While Scheelhaase isn't a great thrower, I still think he is legit. I expect the Illini to run it right down their throat. Illinois 34- 24
Ohio St at Miami 7:30 EST- As much has been made of all the off the field crap but this game is really going to be about how crappy the QBs play. If Jacory Harris does his thing and throws INTs and Bauserman shows why he couldn't make it for the Pittsburgh Pirates, just flip it over to the FSU/Oklahoma game. OSU 17- 15
Oklahoma at FSU 8 EST-I am not a Noles fan but I grew up in the 90s and I miss them being relevant. They can bring back their swagger and their War Chant Saturday night. Oklahoma doesn't play well away from Norman and I think they might struggle here. Seminoles 30- 23
Utah at BYU 9:15 EST- This in state battle is moved up earlier in the season. I really don't know what to expect but I will go with the home team here. BYU 20 -14
Enjoy the games. I am going to bed.
Vegas loves ND; they've been favorites in both games they've lost so far this season! If I was a betting man, I'd bet against the spread on this one.
ReplyDeleteShout out to the Pirates and their 4 major sport record for losing seasons.
